DESCRIPTION :
Gentamycin belongs to the group of aminogly cosides and acts bactericidal against mainly Gram-negative bacteria like E. coli, Klebsiella, Pasteurella and Salmonella spp. The bactericidal action is based on inhibition of bacterial protein synthesis.
INDICATIONS:
Gastrointestinal and respiratory infections caused by gentamycin sensitive bacteria, like E.coli, Klebsiella, Pasteurella and Salmonella spp., in calves, cattle, goats, sheep and swine.
CONTRAINDICATIONS :
Hypersensitivity to gentamycin.
Administration to animals with a serious impaired liver and/or renal function. Concurrent administration with nephrotoxic substances.
DOSAGE AND ADMINISTRATION: For intramuscular administration:
General: Twice daily 1 mI per 20- 40 kg body weight for 3 days.
SIDE EFFECTS:
Hypersensitivity reactions.
High and prolonged application may result in neurotoxicity, ototoxicity or nephrotoxicity.
WITHDRAWAL TIMES: For kidneys: 45 days.- For meat: 7 days.- For milk: 3 days.
